5 Steps For Doubling Your Sales – Even In 2020

Let’s be honest. It’s been a rough year. Many businesses - even people I know personally - were hit hard by the shutdowns that resulted from Covid-19. It would be foolish to deny that the lockdowns had a severe impact on the global economy. 

 

But you see, the principles of success were not shaken by COVID. They never change. So it would be equally foolish to see it as a reason to quit trying to pursue success in your own business. What does that mean for you? 

 

It means there is still time to double your sales this year! Yes - even in 2020!

 

So what are the steps? How can you double your sales in 2020?

 

1. First, make the DECISION you are going to double your sales.

You’d be amazed what your mind will do for you when you make a decision to accomplish something! If you’ve heard me speak or if you’ve read “Selling With Intention,” you have heard the term Neuro-Linguistic Programming. This is an innovative field based on the assumption that humans perceive their own reality and, most importantly, have the ability to influence it.

 

In short, it means you deliberately control your own reality. In the 1960s, a book called Psycho-Cybernetics was written about this very thing. Only now do we have the technology to prove that those theories are true.

 

What is the general basis of these theories? That we get what we intend to. So when you make the decision - when you set the intention - your mind will go to work for you!

 

2. Confront your #1 limiting belief and shift it.

What is your #1 limiting belief? I have seen varying limiting beliefs in salespeople, but some of the most common are:

Sales is hard.

People will think I’m being pushy.

Nobody wants what I have to offer.

I don’t deserve to make that much money.

There’s no way I can double my sales.

The top 20% doesn’t exist for me.

I’m not an expert.

COVID has irreparably damaged my ability to do business.

3. Work backward from the end result by imagining that you have already achieved it and asking yourself, “What were my first two steps”?

 

This step provides you with some perspective as well as a bird’s eye view of the process that it takes to double your sales. Imagine yourself with the sales you are striving for. Picture the numbers, the clients, and the rewards you’ll get as a result.

What did it take you to get there?

Remember, whatever images and thoughts you give to your subconscious mind work for you to create the vision that you’ve given it. Envision both the end goal as well as the things you need to do to get there.

 

4. Take those first action steps that you identified.

 

Once you’ve identified your first steps, take them! What are they? Do you need to identify your target client? Work your numbers? Make some phone calls? Set appointments? Your first steps create momentum. Once you’ve started creating momentum, it’s hard to stop - and you’re on your way!

 

5. Begin to see the evidence that you are on your way, and take the next steps - consistently.

 

Keep track of your progress. Small victories create more momentum - celebrate them!

And here is the key: Be consistent. See, when you are a business owner working toward a sales goal, strategy, skills, and follow up are all important. But all the sales tools in the world won’t help you if you aren’t using them - and using them consistently!

 

In fact, it’s better to be consistent and not have all your tools in use than it is to spend your time sharpening your tools but fail to use them.

 

6. BONUS STEP: Know that you will hit roadblocks and want to stop.

In fact, they will be the exact roadblocks that in the past would have stopped you. Do it anyway!

Finally, if you fall short of your goal, just keep going! You’re farther ahead than you would be if you had not started in the first place, even if you don’t make it to where you wanted to.

The key is just to not give up!

 

The year is not over yet - and it is FULL of opportunities and possibilities. There is still time to double your sales - 2020 can be your year if you decide it will be!
