Potential Quest

Greetings!

The end of 2007 is quickly approaching!  Are you tangled up in the holiday hassle or carefully planning for 2008?

I just finished teaching the November Selling with Intention Intensive.  What an amazing group of people!  This is the third class since our launch in August and due to a lot of interest, we will be running two classes in January! I am immensely grateful to all of the students who have attended and made this class awesome.  Thank you!

At the end of each class I always ask the students to share one thing that really impacted them.  I asked the same question at the end of this class. Once everyone had shared, one of the students raised his hand and said, "What has impacted you the most from our class?" Wow-what a great question!  For a moment I was speechless as the three days played out in my mind like a movie.

So many wonderful breakthroughs had happened!  So many exciting results had occurred!  I had witnessed each person generously sharing their business knowledge and encouraging their classmates.  Could I pick just one thing?

"Well", I finally said, "The real secret is that I have learned so much from all of you, as I do from all of my students and clients.  It is hard to pick one thing."  I kind of stumbled over my words and in that moment I wasn't able to pick one thing.

However, having time to reflect always brings clarity.   When I look back on this class, I was reminded of the power of generosity and how that changes lives.  I saw it happen over and over again.  Not just with this class, but with all of my classes.  I saw individuals generously sharing their knowledge, sharing their contacts, sharing business leads, sharing laughs-it all adds up to helping others become their best.  Every time you help someone else grow, you have just left a legacy that will last a lifetime.

May this holiday season be a reminder to keep sharing generously-It changes lives...

I wish you all the joy of the holiday season and the most magical 2008 you could ever imagine!

I Have Learned... exit

After having the privilege of being a stay at home mom to our four children for many years, in 2005 I decided I would do something with my "extra" time after our twin daughters started first grade. My husband was working as a social worker for Riverside County and would come home and tell me about the eighteen-year old foster kids that were "aging-out" of the system and how nowwhere to live and no chance to attend college.

After praying and seeking the advice of other organizations that worked with emancipating foster youth, I felt called to start a program in Riverside County . We wanted to serve these teens by giving them an amazing opportunity to become educated and self-sufficient in order to break the cycle of abuse in their families. After tossing around several names, we settled on "Inspire". The word speaks the intention that we set out to achieve with these youth.

My initial goals were to start with two eighteen-year old girls, develop a business plan, and build a board of directors. I started getting involved in my local chamber of commerce, non-profit associations and other networking groups, and I tried to get as many speaking opportunities as possible.  I took every opportunity to speak with other people that ran successful non-profits and/or worked with youth. I pounded the pavement to get as many community partners as I could for services I knew we would need. I was so passionate about the cause that I didn't take the time to be scared of putting myself out there for rejection. I learned earlier in my years as a saleswoman that it is all a numbers game and not to take the "no's" personally. I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised at how many "yes's" Inspire gets and the support we receive.

I have learned that while it is important to set goals, there are times when God has other plans. Instead of my plan to start with two girls, we started with five and we were blessed with a wonderful, safe home for them to live in near the local community college.

Now, just two years later, Inspire has 11 young women and our first two young men in the program. They all attend college full time, work part time, attend professional counseling, have a personal mentor, and attend life skills classes. I truly believe that if we set the bar high for these kids and infuse them with guidance, support, and encouragement many of them can and will rise to meet or exceed our expectations.  The former foster youth are fully aware of the daunting statistics that 50% of them will become homeless upon leaving foster care; that 25% will become incarcerated; and that pregnancy and addiction rates are much higher for them. They know that fewer than 10% of foster kids attend college and only 2% will earn a degree. These stats can almost seem hopeless, but there is something in me that has the desire to dig in and help these youth.

Is there anything I would do differently? I guess I would have liked to have known how much work running a non-profit was going to be. But, if I knew that before I jumped in with both feet, then maybe I would not have pressed forward. I am still learning to balance work and family.

The most valuable lesson I have learned is to

be obedient to God's calling and to be thankful for the many blessings that come. I love putting a need out into the community and watching how the need is always met in even better ways than I could have planned. I am learning that people genuinely enjoy helping others. I have also learned that not everyone is called to the same service, but it's okay because one person's "no" is someone else's "yes."

I have learned so much from the many young adults in our program. They have a hard time understanding why people would want to pour so much time and resources into them, but when they see their accomplishments they begin to understand their value. I have learned that people cannot let their past define who they are today. I tell the foster youth that being abused and neglected as a child does not have to be all they are today. They have the opportunities and ability to choose their own future-as we all do!

Words of Wisdom From Dr. Ray
Who's/What's In Controlexit

Cont'd
By Dr. A. Gordon Ray

In the previous installment of the Series: "Who's/What's In Control Of Your Life I shared the Ultimate Life principle that you should take control of your own personal development.  Since it is such an extremely crucial aspect of your life success and development I want to continue to emphasize this extremely vital principle in this issue.

If you are to achieve your full possibility for power, success and fulfillment, you must develop your own personal potential to the ultimate degree!  This means that you must discover and practice personal growth processes on a continual basis.  You have to be continually learning, reading, studying and practicing - always be gaining new knowledge and understanding of a wider personal life potential and how you can activate and use it to fulfill your personal destiny!  Knowledge is potential power!  Activated, and practiced knowledge is creative and achieving power!

How much are you reading?  How much are you learning?  Sadly, studies reveal that most people never scratch the surface of their untapped potential because they stop learning!  When you stop learning, you stop growing!  When you stop growing, you start dying!  The Book of Infinite Wisdom and Truth directs us: "Learn to do well" - learn how to succeed and develop the great hidden potential within you.  I read a recent study which revealed that - even the people in our society with the highest intellect - use only 5% of their potential.  What about you?  Are you a five - 5% person or a 95% person?

I want to encourage you to read, learn, study and practice that which enhances your personal knowledge and growth and develops, activates, and empowers you through your heretofore undiscovered and unused potential.

I have four additional, indispensable principles in their series concerning the control of your "life process" which I wish to present in the next two issues.  I am hopeful that you are practicing those which I have presented in previous issues.  I know this - if you have been practicing them - your life has taken an upward and exciting escalation to a higher dimension.

I encourage you to connect with my WebSite:  www.agordonray.com for an overview of my programs - all of which are based on "POWER OVER" LIFE and "POWER TO" CREATE LIFE.  I continue to receive great response and accolades concerning my book: "Escalator To The High Life Zone" which has 6 Universal Life Creating Principles beyond the New York Times Best Seller: "The Secret."  I encourage you to order it - from me directly 760.967.1295 or by Email: Huintl@aol.com or on my WebSite.  We accept your Visa/MC Credit card.  The greatest investment you can ever make is in your own personal development!  I encourage you to Continue to take Control of all aspects of your life in ever increasing dimensions!

exitOrganization Tip

There are things in life that come up that need to be done next week, or next month. But how can you possibly remember a chore to be done
3 weeks from now?

Try using a index card box divided into day, weeks and months. Any time something comes up that needs to be done later, write up an index card and drop it in the slot for the day it needs to be done.

Any project which has a future start date can be easily remembered by adding the date on the top right corner of the card and place it in the box behind the correct day/week/month tab.

Each morning pull out any cards with today's date on them and you'll know exactly what needs to be done.

This system can be used when you drop off/pick up clothes at the cleaner, for school or work functions, special projects and so much more.

Much Success....
