Greetings on your journey! I hope that this newsletter finds you all well and moving passionately toward your dreams and goals.

Recently, I have had several clients and business associates tell me that they have experienced incredible events in their businesses. For example, some have shared stories of manifesting exactly what they visualized or the goals they have written down happened exactly as they wanted them to. Incredible! Or, is it?

As we move into the fall, I would encourage all of you to become clear on exactly what you want to achieve before the end of 2006. Write it down. Visualize it! And then watch magical things happen in your business and in your life.

If you can believe it and see it, you WILL make it happen!

When I first decided that I would venture out on my own, away from the security of a regular paycheck from Uncle Sam, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I stood at a crossroads in my personal and professional life because I was passionate about leadership and unable to make the difference I longed for in a bureaucracy that didn’t allow it. Deep down, I knew I could no longer work in my current position. After much soul searching and countless hours identifying my objective, I created the framework for my new business. Since I had developed leadership curriculum and delivered numerous training modules in my law enforcement role in the Federal government, I recognized that I had the expertise and desire to help individuals in the private sector become more effective leaders, thus, Upside Thinking was born.

My experience in creating Upside Thinking, Inc. (UTI) wasn’t that of a typical start-up. I understood that just because I received rave reviews as a trainer didn’t mean my company would be successful and had learned to surround myself with people who told me what I needed to hear, not necessarily what I wanted to hear. I also conducted market research, educated myself on all aspects of running a profitable business and outlined three values that would form the foundation of this new business venture.

When I finally opened the doors to UTI, I utilized the power of network marketing by joining the Chamber of Commerce and organizations of similar-minded individuals to build my clientele. While I had a strong external support group, including my husband, one of my first strategic business partners in the community was Ursula C. Mentjes. She inspired me to add other divisions to UT and mentored me through the process. Her sales techniques helped clarify the value of my services, enabling me to live my passion and assist my clients in developing a clear leadership vision, increasing their sphere of influence and strengthening their profits through leadership coaching, consulting and training seminars.

The last statement I make at every training session is, “Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely” for “If we do not change direction, we are liable to end up where we are headed.” - Confucius

It’s September and in our house that means Back to School time. I love this time of year; new school (office) supplies, great weather and the opportunity to try a new routine.

With that in mind here are some tips for getting out the door in the morning without too much chaos. These are great ideas whether it’s just yourself or the whole family you’re coordinating.
1) Have a permanent home for brief cases, purses, backpacks, etc.
2) Review your calendar for the next day’s events/appointments; plan wardrobe accordingly. If you’ll be going to the gym, is your bag ready?
3) Have all paperwork, homework, and permission slips ready.
4) Prepare lunches the night before.
5) Set the timer on the coffee pot & set out bowls for cereal the night before (remember most of us function better on a full stomach!)

With a little proactive work the night before, you should be out the door with no stress and ready for a great day!
