Greetings! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope this newsletter finds you wealthy and well!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I have been thinking about the importance of practicing gratitude in our businesses and in our lives. Recently, I was lucky enough to discover and watch The Secret (www.thesecret.tv); an outstanding documentary that discusses the power of the Universal Laws of Attraction.

Our days as business people are filled with everything from creativity to chaos! How many hats did you wear today? Since every moment is filled with tasks, we rarely take the time to think about all of the things to be grateful for in our businesses. The Secret discusses the importance of gratitude and the impact it has on our ability to attract even more amazing opportunities and life-changing events!

What are you grateful for right now in your business? In your life? Take a moment and write those things down. Read on and hear Sandy Staudinger’s motivational story and all of the parts of her business and life that she is grateful for!

This Month's Success Story -

Celebrating 20 Years!

My family has been in the flower shop business since 1968. My husband and I were married in June, 1970, and always felt like we could work together. We believed that the flower business would be a good family project and my husband, Ken, would no longer have to commute to Orange County. In March, 1986, we found the perfect shop! We bought Robson's Flowers & Gifts which was a four year old flower shop in Butterfield Square on Main Street. By September Ken joined us full time.

One of our first goals was to develop a closer relationship with the city of Corona. We wanted people to feel at home when they visited the store because it hasn't just been our business it has been our ministry. So in January 1987 we renamed it Corona Rose Flowers & Gifts. Quick Fact: The store was named after Kenny who was called "The Corona Rose" at his previous job in Orange County.

The business grew at a rapid pace, quadrupling in sales and outgrowing its walls! In 1999 we found a 9,000 sq. ft. building. We prayed over it and decided to take the risk. It was on the corner of South Main and Grand Blvd. Good idea, bad timing! So, 18 months later and 2 1/2 million dollars in debt we moved to our current location 844 W. 6th Street; a few months later we sold the Butterfield location and continued to grow and believe that God would get us through each and every day.

At that point, we faced another major challenge. We were over $250,000.00 in debt and had to pay it off or file bankruptcy. Wow! We just didn't feel that bankruptcy was an option at that time. So the first thing I did was send a letter to everyone we owed money to: 82 venders, 6 maxed out credit cards, utility companies, the State of California, and the IRS asking for their patience. Amazingly, most of them worked with me. Everyday Ken and I would go out to the back of the shop and pray for what we needed that day to make ends meet. And everyday we got what we needed. When customers came in and asked how we were doing I always asked them to pray for us. We felt that as long as the money came in we would continue to pay off the debt. We knew we could do it. And we had a wonderful customer base, who loved us and prayed for us and told everyone they knew to use Corona Rose Flowers.

Our biggest inspiration during that time happened early in the challenge. We were at a Chamber of Commerce mixer and a couple came up to us to see how we were doing and after hearing our story they told us theirs. They both were American Japanese and were taken to live in an interment camp during WWII. They told us that when they returned home it took them 7 to 8 years to get back on their feet. They encouraged us to not give up.

It took us 8 years to pay off our debt and today other than our house we are debt free. It wasn't easy. I had days my skin would crawl, but Kenny was always ready to pray with me when I needed reassurance and when I was up I would pray with him. Our experiences have helped us to grow and they have given us a story to share to encourage and inspire other people to pursue their dreams. The verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"(Phil 4:13) keeps me motivated daily.

This January will start our 20th year as Corona Rose Flowers and Gifts!

Planning for the Holidays

Part of being organized is being proactive. So with that in mind I'd like to encourage you to begin thinking about holiday cards and gifts for clients, business associates and employees. If you are going to send a holiday card, now is the time to review your list of recipients and make sure you have their current mailing address. Or if you are sending a "virtual greeting" verify you have the correct email address. You should also be thinking about your budget for gifts and to whom you would like to send them. Be creative. There are so many great options available for gift giving.

Here are a few that I think are both unique and would be appreciated.
* JustGive. org is a website that offers JustGive Charity Gift Certificates which can be purchased online with just a few simple clicks, and redeemed from a choice of more than one million local and national non-profit organizations.

* Gift Cards: I-Tunes, movie passes, restaurants, bed and breakfast.

* Edible Arrangements specializes in creating delicious fruit designs filled with fresh strawberries, pineapple, grapes, oranges, cantaloupe and honeydew. Arrangements are guaranteed fresh and are available in a variety of styles and sizes.

* The Candy Lady offers Candy Bouquets which are unique floral-like arrangements of gourmet candies and fine chocolates from around the world, dressed up with bright, colorful accessories, all creatively designed in a wide variety of containers.

* And who can resist M & M's. Go to mymms.com for a variety of custom options. You can have your logo or a custom message printed on the M & M's. You choose the colors and then select from a variety of packaging options.

Happy Shopping!!!
