Are you networking with millionaires?

I recently had the opportunity to be invited to and join a Mastermind group. Let me tell you something, after just one meeting I felt as if I had been catapulted to an entirely new level! Why? Because I was surrounded with incredibly bright, talented, successful and generous business people who were just as interested in my success as I am in theirs. What an incredible feeling!

I challenge you to think about the people you are networking with and surrounded by. Are they where you want to go? Or, are they where you are? Do they support you? Or, are they secretly threatened by your success? I think it's important to be in a variety of networking groups. There are three categories: Those groups that allow you to really give to the other members or those you serve, those groups that include your peers and those groups that will really stretch you! The third group is KEY because it will give you a chance to grow and stretch to the next level so you can truly reach your highest and greatest potential!

Action:
1. Evaluate the networking groups you are involved with today. Are they balanced like the example above?
2. If not, are you ready and willing to make a change? By when?

Speaking of millionaires (or zillionaires!), Chellie Campbell is our featured Inspirational Individual of the month! Chellie is a phenomenally talented and generous business woman, author and motivational speaker who teaches people how to let go of financial stress through her Financial Stress Reduction Workshops. This Month's Success Story -

My career in business began when I was a manager of a bookkeeping business, and then became a partner. Four years later, it was very successful and I bought my two partners out of the business. Nine months later the biggest client we had left with only 2 weeks notice. It was 75% of my income. I borrowed a lot of money at a high rate of interest and spent the next few years trying to pay it off. I did save the company, and when a lot of my friends and clients asked me how I did it, I began telling my story over and over. Hence, my new business, Financial Stress Reduction Workshops, was born. I loved teaching people from the first moment I started!

Out of the blue, one of my bookkeepers left to form her own company and a number of my clients went with her. Suddenly I couldn't make the minimum payments on my debt. I ended up filing for bankruptcy. I lost my home to foreclosure. I finally hit bottom and realized that this downward path had nothing to offer but despair and destruction. I decided I needed to take a hard look at what I was doing and how to change it. As I was teaching my workshops, I noticed that all my students were getting better and I wasn't, so I asked myself , "What are they doing that I'm not?" The answer was that I wasn't doing the positive thinking and affirmations. I realized it's your daily thinking that will change you!

My determination to succeed won over, and I was more determined than ever to make the Financial Stress Reduction Workshops successful! After all, I knew I could teach it, but proving that I could also live it was the ultimate success! It gave me a base from which I would teach my clients with openness and honesty. Plus, I had a nightmare that I had to go back to work as a secretary (for my attorney!). I wasn't willing to do that. My will to succeed made me willing to do the work necessary to make it succeed!

My success continued and in addition to my own two books, Wealthy Spirit and Zero to Zillionaire, I have a story in the latest book by Jack Canfield (co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series) titled You've GOT to Read This Book: 55 People Tell the Story of the Book That Changed Their Life. I wrote about how the book, "When I Say No, I Feel Guilty" by Manuel Smith helped me stop being a victim, stand up to people, and take charge of my life. In my own books, I say that there are 3 kinds of people, like fish in the sea: Dolphins (friendly, playful, and intelligent), Sharks (hurtful bullies) and Tuna (timid victims). Smith's book was a Dolphin Training Manual for the Tuna I was. I still say I am a Tuna-in-Recovery working on becoming a Dolphin!

Through my journey I have learned that most people have negative attitudes about money. In my opinion, this is one of the reasons why everyone on the planet isn't wealthy. We're afraid of what it means to be rich. If we have a negative attitude and think only bad, corrupt people are rich, and we care about our spirituality and being a good person, we think "wealthy" and "spiritual" are mutually exclusive. But part of my mission is to say money doesn't corrupt you! I think all the spiritual people should have all the money because they will do good works with it and share it. I came to this belief through my own observations, spiritual studies, and books like Florence Scavallo Schin's The Game of Life and How to Play It. Think positive thoughts about money like "I am rich and wonderful" and "People love to give me money" and more will flow to you!

One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was to write exactly how many times I dialed the phone, how many people I actually spoke with, how many appointments I made, and how many clients resulted from it. It made me honest about my sales activity and the numbers held the key to my success because it told me how many calls it took to make a sale. When you know that, you know exactly what you have to do to produce the income you want. It is now one of the things that I teach in my workshop because I know people can always improve in this area. I did!

My ongoing inspiration came from Marianne Williamson's statement, quoted by Nelson Mandela in his Inaugural address: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world." Her words put into focus the reason to put my business and my life on a bigger scale: To help other people. I was teaching workshops in Los Angeles, but there are many people in the world who can't come to Los Angeles for 8 weeks. So, I started to write. And my book, The Wealthy Spirit, found an agent and a publisher, and then readers around the world.

The Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards 2007

There is no better value in marketing materials for impact and cost than your business card. It's easy to carry along in your wallet, pocket or purse and it offers people a brief synopsis of who you are and what you do. So why not make the most of it? Instead of your standard two-sized card, why not consider a folded card and using it as a mini brochure. The folded business card effectively doubles the space you have to tell your message.

While the front of your card would still provide basic information, the inside of your card would contain such things as a menu of your services, mini product brochure, order form, punch card for frequent buyers, coupon or a map to your location.

Other examples: If you are a chef, you might add a favorite recipe inside the card; if you own a restaurant you could print a menu. Are you a public speaker...list your seminar/workshop topics.

Like standard business cards, folded cards are highly portable and just as easy to store. They are less costly than larger brochures and can be less cumbersome to carry around.

For as long as human beings have been on the planet - philosophers, theologians, sociologists and other contemplators of the human condition, behavior and destiny have endeavored to conclude and explain what determines the quality, content, direction, achievements and destiny of a human being's life. The question has always been and STILL IS: "Is there a crucial factor that determines what life IS and Becomes?" Why is your life the way it is? Why are you the way you are?
