Success Story of the Month!
In December 2004, I began my new journey
in the exciting world of interior design with determination
and a strong drive for success. I knew in my heart that this
would be a positive next chapter in my life. As I became
immersed in the excitement of this new endeavor, I began
asking myself what the necessary steps would be to begin
transitioning towards this new career. I then discovered the
Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, California. My
passion for design soon became a reality as I entered the
program in January 2005.
Before beginning my design
program, I came across a sign one morning in front of a then
vacant lot that read "Ethan Allen, Designers Needed", At that
moment, my intuition told me that this would be the start of
my new career and the place in which I would grow as a
designer. I quickly called the number on the sign and to my
surprise, I was able to meet with the store manager, Abe
Sharaf, that same day. Abe Sharaf is a man of high integrity
and great character, someone who has contributed greatly to my
growth as a designer. I was formally asked to become a part of
the Ethan Allen team.
My commitment and loyalty to
Ethan Allen and the management family as well as to my clients
is greater than ever. Today, I am living my dream, of being
able to help my clients see their vision and create their own
dream homes. My passion is to connect with others, make them
proud of their home, and to bring happiness into their lives.
My advice to others in the business world would be to always
do your best and reach for the top, and help others to reach
their top potential.
Living my dream is a result of
many important individuals in my life. I would like to thank
my daughters Angela and Gurgiana for their inspiration to go
back to school, my dear husband Steve for his everlasting
support and my parents for their belief in my ability to
succeed. Additionally, I would like to thank Abe and the Ethan
Allen management team for their support and belief in me, and
for giving me this lifetime opportunity.

Happy Birthday America! The Fourth of
July is here and with that, exciting celebrations around the
country. This time of year is very popular for vacations, so I
hope that all of you get some well deserved time off!
July also marks the halfway mark for the year. This is
a great time to check your business and marketing plan and
make sure that you are on track for the year. Are you on plan
with your profits? With your sales? What areas do you need to
give some attention to? So often we get caught up in the day
to day activities of business that we forget to step away and
look at the big picture.
If you havent taken the time
to review your business and marketing plan for the year, I
would encourage you to block out some time in your schedule to
meet with your CPA or other business professionals to go
through the numbers. You will thank yourself in January!

Are You "Stuck"? |
|
I love sales. I love sales people! I have
had the opportunity to work with talented Account Executives
with years of experience. Amazingly talented people who
floated with ease and grace through their sales careers. The
kind of people you would imagine never procrastinated, never
felt fear and were never stopped by anything. But the reality
was that they were often stuck, just like everybody else. The
difference was, they had figured out what they needed to do to
move forward at any given moment. They had also learned to ask
the right questions.
Once upon a time, I had assembled
a sales team that was the most talented team that I had ever
worked with. They were all unstoppable. Two of them
accomplished things that many believed were not even possible.
I can remember working with them day in and day out and truly
enjoying the time I spent with both of them every day because
they were such professionals. Let me tell you, every day they
faced difficult obstacles just due to the significant amount
of business that they were handling, but they rarely got
stuck. Instead, each new obstacle was another opportunity to
come into my office and brainstorm about the next step. As
long as there was another step or another choice, they weren't
stuck. And there was always another step or another choice, we
just had to get really creative at times.
Why do I
share this story? I share this story because sometimes in
business or in sales it is easy to get "stuck" and get mired
down in a challenge. When this occurs, you might feel alone in
your business and the last thing you might want to do is ask
for help. But that is exactly what you must do. Trust me,
there are many people out there who would love to share their
wisdom or brainstorm with you. People love to help others, so
put your fear or pride aside and reach out. You will be glad
you did!
Action Item: What are your top
five business or sales challenges right now? Write them down.
Now prioritize them. Look at number one. Who do you know right
now that could help you with this challenge? Perhaps they
could brainstorm with your or maybe they have so much
experience that it would be easy for them to point you in the
right direction |
