Pay it
Forward! “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” John Wesley This month I hope to
encourage you to do two things; 1) get rid of some excess and 2) bless
someone or someplace else with that excess. I was inspired last night by
an episode of Oprah that was all about “Paying it forward”. This really is
all about giving; giving of your time, resources or talents. So here is my
challenge to you – look around your office or workspace. I’m sure there is
some excess, such as too many pens, pencils or paper that was left over
from a specific project, envelopes that aren’t the correct size, etc. Many
of these items would be appreciated by any number of non-profit
organizations. Think shelters, humane societies, schools, and churches.
What may not seem like much to you can be a real blessing to an
organization that operates on a limited budget. Why not take 10- 15
minutes each day this week to de-clutter your office and pass those items
on to a deserving group. And if you’re still in the mood, how about bringing these ideas home with you? Shelters are always in need of toiletries (even travel size), clothing and food (yes, I’m sure your pantry has some extras in it too), toys, books, etc. You can even include your children in this as it is never too early to teach them to give and it’s a great way to make room for the impending gifts they will receive. Even your linen closet may hold items; the Humane Society can use your old towels and blankets. Wishing you blessings this holiday season as you take a moment to “Pay it forward”!
