At the beginning of the year, our theme was FOCUS! I hope that this year has proven to be one of focus and success for you! If not, decide NOW that 2007 will be your best year yet!

Now that the holidays have arrived, our thoughts often turn to the importance of giving back. If you truly want to give a boost to your business, there is no better way than to give back financially or through volunteer work. Let me tell you something; when you give back, it comes back to YOU tenfold! Now, I’m not suggesting that you give back for that reason, but it is truly amazing what will come to you when you do it in good spirit! Try it!

In celebration of this magical season and in the spirit of giving back, I know you will enjoy this month’s featured inspirational story by Susan Goodson! I hope that if you are having a difficult time right now, you will reach out to some of the angels that are around you, ready to help.

Wishing you all the best during this holiday season and warm wishes for a phenomenal 2007! Remember, you can make 2007 to be whatever you want it to be! That’s the magic! Make your greatest dreams come true!

This Month's Success Story -

Angels to Action

10 years ago a miracle happened and Angels to Action was born.

My dearest and closest friend, Michele, was having some health issues and had found a lump in her armpit and was concerned. She asked me to attend her doctor’s appointment with her. The doctor told her he wanted her to wait a few months and they would check her again. He didn’t seem too concerned and Michele seemed relieved. I was relieved as well.

A few months later she arrived on my doorstep on a dark and cold Friday afternoon and said that the doctor wanted to know if she had leukemia or lymphoma in her family history. She was shocked. I was shocked. No one knew what to say. They scheduled her for a biopsy and she was told before her surgery that now there were more lumps than they could count and there was concern that it could be cancer.

I couldn’t just wait around, so in despair I went shopping for that perfect “something” to bring comfort to my dear friend. And then, there it was. In front of me was a blanket with a beautiful Angel woven perfectly into the fabric. I bought it and decided that I would give it to Michele so she could “Wrap herself with the Angels while God goes to work doing what God does...Healing.” Michele took it with her to the hospital and had the nurse cover her with it before surgery and later while she was in the recovery room. In the waiting room, Michele’s husband and I waited with heavy hearts.

And then it happened! To our amazement the doctor came out and told us the operation went well! He also shook his head in disbelief and said that he didn’t understand what had happened. Before the surgery there were more lumps than he could count and when he went in to operate and take them out, they were gone. We knew a miracle had occurred!

Since her surgery Michele has shared her blanket with others who have been sick. All of them have been healed also.

Over the years I have purchased many Angel Blankets during the holiday season and sent them out to whoever needed them. This past Christmas I shared my idea with some of my friends from the local Chamber of Commerce and they asked if they could help fund this idea so we could get the blankets all year round. I graciously accepted and received enough money to order 50 blankets. They have been sent all over the USA to people in crisis.

We all know that it is not the blanket that brings healing. What I believe is that when someone is sick or in pain and they can rest in the knowledge that someone bigger than them (God) is in charge, they can let their guard down and give their bodies and minds some time to relax and heal. Some have been healed. Some have passed away but all have been touched and blessed by having been given a blanket. Each blanket is loved and prayed over before it is sent out. And since most people believe in Angels it goes beyond personal religion. It is a spiritual journey we are on and everyone can benefit from wrapping themselves in others prayers, love and good wishes.

I have since, with the help of Michele, begun the process of creating a non-profit organization called “Angels to Action” so that others can contribute to our dream of helping people in times of need.

We are so excited to be able to share the Angel Blankets with anyone who is hurting or in crisis. If you know someone who might be in need of an Angel Blanket, please let us know. Also, if you have any questions or would like to donate to Angels to Action, please feel free to contact me. Great things will be happening this holiday season at Angels to Action!

Pay it Forward!

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”
John Wesley

This month I hope to encourage you to do two things; 1) get rid of some excess and 2) bless someone or someplace else with that excess. I was inspired last night by an episode of Oprah that was all about “Paying it forward”. This really is all about giving; giving of your time, resources or talents. So here is my challenge to you – look around your office or workspace. I’m sure there is some excess, such as too many pens, pencils or paper that was left over from a specific project, envelopes that aren’t the correct size, etc. Many of these items would be appreciated by any number of non-profit organizations. Think shelters, humane societies, schools, and churches. What may not seem like much to you can be a real blessing to an organization that operates on a limited budget. Why not take 10- 15 minutes each day this week to de-clutter your office and pass those items on to a deserving group.

And if you’re still in the mood, how about bringing these ideas home with you? Shelters are always in need of toiletries (even travel size), clothing and food (yes, I’m sure your pantry has some extras in it too), toys, books, etc. You can even include your children in this as it is never too early to teach them to give and it’s a great way to make room for the impending gifts they will receive. Even your linen closet may hold items; the Humane Society can use your old towels and blankets.

Wishing you blessings this holiday season as you take a moment to “Pay it forward”!

SWI
My name is Rachel Sanborn and I am a Licensed Aesthetician and sole owner of Skin Deep Esthetics. I was recently blessed with a new client who was a beautiful young lady with problem skin. My new client was confused on where to begin with skincare and she was frustrated and overwhelmed with using so many different products when she came to see me. I listened to her concerns and found out exactly what she wanted to achieve with her skin. Together we customized a plan that would help her achieve her new skin care goals. My new client was overjoyed that somebody took the time to listen to her and help her move in the right direction! I was thrilled to be able to work with her and offer her hope. This was definitely an "I love my job" moment for me! I was intentional with this client because I listened to her concerns and customized a home care and service protocol that addressed her needs individually! She is a VERY happy client now!

My name is Gail Stevkovski and I am an Interior Designer with Ethan Allen Home Interiors. When my new clients came in to Ethan Allen "just to look", I reached out and connected with them instantly! I helped them see their vision for their new room. I did that by having them describe the room, to help me feel the space, and together we visualized their space by placing ourselves in their home. Together we created a living environment, using colors, textures, and furniture that specifically fit their lifestyle--and created a beautiful and happy environment for them to live in! The feeling was awesome for the client and for me because I was able to intentionally give them exactly what they wanted. My goal with every client is to make them FEEL special in their home. It's about wanting to help my clients and connecting with them from the heart-- with intention!
